Rosacea is a skin condition which is often associated with a sensitive skin…
It’s an inflammatory condition of the skin on your face, characterised by enlarged blood vessels. This is known as ‘first stage’ rosacea. Rosacea results in flushing or blushing that lasts longer than normal, often accompanied by a burning or stinging sensation.
It often appears during peri menopause and menopause because of hormone imbalances and fluctuations in body temperature.
This inflammatory skin condition often appears as a butterfly shape from the middle of your forehead, across your cheeks, nose, and chin. You may suffer from persistent redness and visible blood capillaries, your skin will be sensitive and reactive with pimples throughout the redness. In more severe case you may see a thickening of your skin, especially around your nose, the redness may then get deeper and look purple in colour.
What causes rosacea?
Your blood microcirculation needs oxygen to function efficiently. During the onset of rosacea your microcirculation becomes restricted (because of your skin flushing). This restriction prevents good levels of oxygen from reaching your microcirculation.
